4 more things

Yes! I actually found 4 more things to make me smile yesterday. Of course I still found myself naked in the bathtub crying in the dark as I listened to my MP3 player, but after 9 hours of sleep, I'm much better.

You ever notice how every fricking song has lyrics just for you when you are sad. Last night I listened to my shuffled tunes and heard:

"Guess mine is not the first heart broken

My eyes are not the first to cry
My heart is saying don't let go"

"Don't if feel like the wind is always howl'n?
Don't it seem like there's never any light!
Once a day, don't you wanna throw the towel in?
It's easier than puttin' up a fight.
No one's there when your dreams at night get creepy!
No one cares if you grow...of if you shrink!
No one dries when your eyes get wet an' weepy!"

But it's all about perspective I guess. So, I made myself listen to more "Annie."

"When I'm stuck a day that's gray and lonely,
I just stick out my chin and grin and say,
Oh! The sun'll come out tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on 'til tomorrow come what may"

And here are the 4 more things that made me smile yesterday:

*********************************

1. An email from JellyBean's Mom saying we could hang out. (THANKS!)

2. My awesome online buddies! (THANKS! THANKS!)

3. Pouring my heart out to an unsuspecting neighbor, having her pour the wine (we shared a bottle), and getting another invite to hang out. (THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!)

4. Sending this image to Alwyn and having him almost choke on his apple. Seeing this guy on Alwyn's MySpace just gives me the giggles.

Enough is Enough!

Stop. The. Bus.

I'm getting off. I'm not going to let myself continue this way. I am going to make myself happy or cry trying.

So, it's back to looking for the silver linings and gratitudes for me. Luckily, I am blessed with the best little boy in the whole world. (Yes, I did say the best!) He makes me laugh and appreciate my life every stinking day.

How could you not laugh when you hear an imperious, "Mom! Wipe my butt!"

In the spirit of Three Beautiful Things, I will try to come up with 3 things that made me smile. At least for today.
*********************************

1. The Homer Simpson like sound of pleasure from my son as he tried Cocoa Puff cereal for the first time.

2. The sight of Family Guy's Brian slapping Lois's butt. (You gotta find comedy where you can.)

3. Because I have been the bunny.

Blue Mood

"Nobody tells me. Nobody keeps me informed. I make it 17 days come Friday since anybody spoke to me."

A Good Question

Zorro: Why does Bert have toothpaste?
Me (Tired from all the why questions): Why do you think he has toothpaste?

Zorro: Bert has no teeth. Why does he have toothpaste?
Me (laughing): Good question.

Today's Paperwork

Today Zorro did a phenomenal job with his paperwork.
He did this dot to dot all by himself.

And look at his skills with prewriting and writing.

How I measure success

I attempted to make a Rosemary Onion Bread.

The yeast was good.
The proofing is in the pictures.

I made a Rosemary Onion Bread.

It actually turned out and tasted decent.
Half the loaf is gone, and I wasn't the one doing all the eating.

And I didn't get cut or injured.

Recipe was from here: http://www.cooksrecipes.com/bread/rosemary_onion_bread_recipe.html

How to keep a preschooler entertained

At Leo's they had a plastic disposable cup for kid's drinks. Pictured were circus themes: a clown, a pink poodle, an elephant and lots of balloons. The writing on the cup instructs the kids to count the red balloons.

So I tell Zorro.

He begins to count, turning the cup as he does so. He is a good counter, turning and turning and turning the cup...getting all the way to 17. There were only 8, but it was cute to see he didn't know when to stop and hadn't realized he had already counted the same balloons.

Me noodles

My husband took us to Leo's (a Mexican restaurant) to have lunch. As we approached, I could see a sign and read it aloud, "Menudo."

Zorro says, "No, my noodles."

Huh?

Yesterday's Word of The Day:

abecedarian \ay-bee-see-DAIR-ee-uhn\, noun:
1. One who is learning the alphabet; hence, a beginner.
2. One engaged in teaching the alphabet.

Anyone else confused?

I made an A

"Look Mom! I made an A."

Dang it!
He sure did!
He wrote his first A on the computer with the mouse.
That deserves a day of bowling. Let's go...

1st Time Bowling

We went bowling for the first time today.
Zorro played 3 games. I played 2.
He averaged 66 points and even managed to get a couple of 9 point frames.
WOOHOO!
(And look Kim...No hat!)

Coloring Bertie

I thought he did such a great job coloring Bertie, so I wanted to share.

Homanah! Homanah! Homonyms!

On Thursday I took Zorro to the park. He wanted to take off his shoes and socks. So as I helped him take them off, I say, "Oh, you want to go bare foot."

He corrects me with, "No, I don't want to have a bear foot. I want people's foot."
