Nature's Beauty

Last Tuesday, I took Z to trek through the marsh. Since it is considered to be the last vernal marsh in Los Angeles, I thought it would be fun and educational. A plus was that it was also free.

First I had to look up the word "vernal." (Did you need to?) It didn't mean much until I tried looking up "vernal marsh" which led to "vernal pool." Ah so!

Spring was just around the corner. The plants were caught in that awkard in between stage. The pools were filled, complete with ducks and sea gulls and other birds.

I even bought binoculars so we could have a closer look at the different fowl. (Yes, those binoculars!)

Z wasn't much moved by the wondrous sights of nature preserved in the middle of a bustling city. But, there was something that he enjoyed immensely. So what did float his boat and got his interest?

Dirt. Yes, the dirt path and the holes in the dirt. Well, it is a part of nature, right?

Z is getting so tall and lanky. Definitely growing out of that little chubby toddler stage and into a little boy. Makes me sad and happy all at the same time.

You have flowers. I am so jealous. And boys are supposed to like dirt!

Hee hee hee....gotta love him.

Have you taken Z on the "Tyke Hike" they have every first Thursday of the month? It's a $5 donation and you get a tour guide.

Sure wish we had some flowers in bloom here.

You and your camera take nice pictures. Is it easy to operate? what kind do you have?
